Love this corner turret and chimney on the St George's Mansions at the junction between Woodland Road and St George's Road in Glasgow. Built around 1900, it was desigend in an Edwardian Baroque style with Scots Baronial details, such as this, by F. Burnet and W.J. Boston.

Sweden's 'old‑growth' natural forests store 83% more carbon than managed woodlands—new study https://phys.org/news/2026-03-sweden-oldgrowth-natural-forests-carbon.html

Most of Europe's original natural forests have been transformed for agriculture and managed forests producing energy, paper, and timber. The few remaining "old-growth" natural forests are relics of the past that illustrate how forests would have looked in the absence of human management. They can, therefore, tell us how people have transformed forests.
Borders Forest Trust are working to document and improve the health of ancient woodlands in the Scottish Borders.

Have some nature to counterbalance the jackpot.
Today I spent the morning clearing a ride (a strip of land or path through the woods) so we could start to open it up and carry on restoring the damage caused by the winter.
I saw woodland daffodils (given the age of the woods these are likely to be a very old variety), primroses, moss galore and my first bluebell of the year.
