Moving version of yesterday’s Silent Sunday post.
Moving version of yesterday’s Silent Sunday post.
You know it’s snowing hard when It triggers the trailcam.
The brook has been covered with snow since January. In the 8 winters we’ve been here that’s never happened for more than a few days. The running water below the snow was muffled. If you didn’t all ready know there was a brook under there you’d never suspect it.
We just got our first opening.
Before and after the storm.
With ~20 inches of snow forecast starting Sunday, today might be the last trip to this spot for a little while.
The Ghost of the Brook
(photos taken one week apart)
The brook is still hanging on to its snow.
Yesterday’s “Silent Sunday,” with movement and sound.
When I got up this morning the brook was still about 75% covered with ice. Then the rain started and the temps are now at 55°F/13°C. You can see the yellowish ice under the surface as melting snow and rain rush over it. Large chunks of ice get dislodged and everything heads downstream.
