"Event Description

Paul Tuller has been using Japanese hand tools for 45 years. This class will be an introduction to Japanese Joinery.

The first session will cover basic tool usage and layout for joinery. The second session will carry on with more complicated joinery, but each session can stand alone. You may enroll in either session or both.

Students will work on test joints to create their own sample collection of techniques alongside becoming familiar with the methods and principals involved.

Tools will be provided, but if students have their own Japanese tools, they are welcome to bring them and Paul can provide tips on sharpening and adjustment.

There will be a lunch break about noon. Students can bring a bag lunch or go out to nearby restaurants if they wish.

Wooden coasters with their base. They are laser engraved and cut and varnished for greater durability. They can be used as 3 separate coasters or as 1 large coaster when they are all on their base. The cells at the base are filled with epoxy resin.
