Question for anybody that knows about painting stuff like guitars: I'm doing a base gloss coat of black. This is my first time painting anything, ever, so I do expect some imperfections (particularly as I'm doing the body in two rounds: front, let cure, flip, do back, let cure).
It looks decent right now, but I would like to smooth the surface a bit more if I can. Problem is, this seems to destroy the gloss. Since I'll be putting an enamel finish on, will it matter, in the end, if the black coat retains a high degree of shine or not? It'd just be nice to do a final coat of black, sand down any globs or imperfections, and then move on to the protective layers of clear enamel without having to apply another coat of black, as that will obviously introduce more room for error.
Thank you!
