Aside from all the death/funeral related content I consume, I typically read about 100 novels a year. Some stand apart from the others and bear multiple rereadings and recommendations. These are three, united by a theme of righteous feminine rage. They even follow a path through womanhood:

I’m so glad books like this exist. I’m grateful to authors who prove that we can break free from internalized misogyny and embrace our rage. It’s not unfeminine to be angry, and we can be powerful at age stage of life.

I'm an English prof with specialities in #americanlit, #womenslit, and all things #LGBTQ. Currently I oversee a large group of #living-learning programs for the University of Maryland, which is surprisingly fun. The pandemic made me a player of word games and a baker of Bundt cakes.
