#b2111 #WomenShutdown

On 21 November, women and queer communities in South Africa will shut down their nation and go on strike.

The action was initiated by the South African organisation ‘Women for Change’.

With the Women's Shutdown, they are demanding the following ahead of the G20 summit:

Declare gender-based violence and femicide a national emergency. Not sometime in the future, but now!

Our stories are different. But our struggles are connected.

We want to take to the streets with them and show our solidarity. That is why we are joining the call:

Protest with us on Friday. In Berlin – and in every other city!

South Africa is experiencing one of the world's deadliest forms of patriarchal violence:

The femicide rate in South Africa is six times higher than in the rest of the world. Every day, at least 15 women die there as a result of femicide.

In 2024, there were over 5,500, representing a 38% increase on the previous year.

We recognise the same patterns of patriarchal violence!

#b2111 #WomenShutdown
