Today In Labor History April 7, 1803: French-Peruvian feminist activist and writer, Flora Tristan, was born. She wrote that the progress of women's rights was directly related to the progress of the working class. One of her last writings was The Workersβ Union, a Utopian Socialist tract. She was friends with Charles Fourier, another Utopian Socialist of the era, and the mother of the painter Paul Gaugin.
