Today In Labor History April 7, 1803: French-Peruvian feminist activist and writer, Flora Tristan, was born. She wrote that the progress of women's rights was directly related to the progress of the working class. One of her last writings was The Workers’ Union, a Utopian Socialist tract. She was friends with Charles Fourier, another Utopian Socialist of the era, and the mother of the painter Paul Gaugin.

Sixty years since marriage bar laws were lifted, the male breadwinner model continues

The marriage bar laws are a thing of the past. And yet, serious workplace laws are still required to address the men-as-breadwinner norm.

Women's Agenda

RE: https://todon.eu/@faab64/116353911557549088

There's literally no time in history where women haven't worked by selling their labour. It may not have been the societal ideal but it was always there, especially textile work. Modern people forget what a huge effort manual production of clothes is.
What #feminism fought for was a way to be independent of the whims of a man because we control our own money and assets and therefore can make our own decisions, not because paid labour under capitalism is so amazing.

Protect Women

Protect women: keep men out of women's sports!

Protect women: keep men out of women's spaces!

Protect women: from that tall black "woman" over there!

Protect women: ban experimental surgeries on vulnerable young lesbians!

Protect women: from the blue-haired lesbians!

Protect women: ban dangerous contraceptives!

Protect women: especially if they're not born yet!

Protect women: don't go out wearing THAT!

Protect women: save them from their suicidal empathy!

Protect women: whether they like it or not.

The
Universal Declaration of Human Rights

must have been written on onion paper.
Every time you start to read it, tears begin to to flow.

Hey has anyone who's on #nsfwsocial decided what other instance you wanna migrate to, when it shuts down?

I don't post much but id really like to be able to continue following the current news, interpretations, and thoughts of folks directly impacted by laws about
#WomensRights #LGBTQ #SexWorkers #HumanRights etc. And amplify those voices, support those communities, etc ...

Tbh I do also really appreciate seeing pics that content creators share of themselves- and know its not a stolen image, (stop
#NCII) a trafficked person, some kind of unmarked bot or "ai" or misogynist bro....?

Anyway, good luck, health, safety, justice, and abundance for each of you and everyone who Loves!

Savitribai Phule (1831 – 1897) was an Indian educator, social reformer, and #poet, regarded as the first female #teacher of modern India.

She played a pivotal role in advancing women's rights and education, and her legacy continues to influence social reform movements across #India.

. .. ...

Personal note: again, Joanne only has limited characters with which to write a bio; I encourage you to do even a single rudimentary search on #Savitribai_Phule - what she did for women, child brides, widows, and lower castes was extraordinary.

Sometimes I wonder,
especially as a woman,
why everyone is so happy and doesn’t see the danger and the intent behind these layoffs

I’m not concerned about the layoffs, because they’re being replaced by men with the same ideals

I see one thing above all else:
A woman leaves and a man takes her place

When you think about many other processes and events in the U.S.,
you see a pattern, and that’s very concerning
