Seriously considering writing an ungodly long rant about the historic falloff Microsoft's consumer-facing products have had since the Xbox 360/Windows Phone 7/Surface Pro 3 era. The change between Microsoft's consumer efforts under J Allard, Joe Belfiore, and Panos Panay, vs. whatever the hell they're doing today - night and day, man.
Fifteen years of shifting focus from consumer to B2B, coupled with creating increasingly hostile and degraded experiences, ineffectively designed to bilk people out of their cash by clicking the wrong thing during updates or in the store, and winding down product categories that were innovative and exciting and rightly developed something of a cult following.
Anyway, my SP3 now runs Ubuntu, I am again seriously considering ditching Windows on my laptop, and I couldn't buy a Microsoft phone if I tried.
Windows Phone was a very different beast to Windows 8 and 8.1. Windows on the desktop didn't have Cortana and a full notification center for everything until 10.
I still don't understand how small tiles were 71x71 when 150 and 310 aren't multiples (+ a spacer of 10) of 71.
