Windows 11 26H1 is live for new 2026 Snapdragon devices
Windows 11 26H1 is now available, but what Microsoft announced described this release of Windows 11 as not a normal feature update, but it’s rather “a specialized Windows release designed to support the next generation of hardware innovation in partnership with device manufacturers and silicon partners.”
This version of Windows was made specifically for selection new 2026 devices that will be released on markets, with Windows 11 26H1 being installed on those devices. This release is a scoped release as such devices become available for purchase, such as new 2026 devices that will launch with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 processor.
This release is based on a different Windows core, so devices running this version of Windows won’t be able to get updated to the regular Windows 11 26H2 release that will make it to all Windows 11 users in the fourth quarter of this year.
