My first exposure to a computer was #XP. Kept using it until the 6th grade.

Skipped #Vista since my PC couldn't handle it.

Got my first laptop in 7th grade, #Win7. Loved it.

When #Win8 came out, I started to see the OS I loved turn to shit. 8.1 was only a mild improvement.

10th grade, dualbooted #Win10 with #Ubuntu until Year-4 of Uni.

When #Win11 came out and I decided to fully commit to #Linux.

Tho I'm happy I jumped ship early on before this crap, can't help but mourn my childhood #OS.

I've rediscovered that with automated teller machines ATM

All of them, literally all ATMs in a radius of about 800 km run win7!

I've been able to get the OS of the Diebold ATM visible on the screen. It runs win64 win7 as can be seen in the photographs

I've gotten a hold of the service manual a week or two ago, thanks to a kind fellow FediVerse user.

This error seems to occur when the money Tray is stuck or when it runs out of bills

Erst haben ein Gewehr, dann schießen !

Leider hat sich unser #Win7 letztes Jahr wegen defekter #Mainboard-Elkos sekundenschnell ins Jenseits verabschiedet. Seitdem arbeiten wir uns mühsam in Linux und neue Hardware (#Lenovo mit m2-Sata, bzw. #nvme) ein.

These ATMs are the latest that were introduced in my country of SR / SA. It is a joy to work with them from the client side.

BTW thank you 💕 also for introducing me to this wonderful site. There are many interesting reference manuals available over there. I found the reference manuals for the Yamaha RD400 two-stroke Daytona!
