In Iceland there is a house named after a (not yet) Lord Dillon who spent a year here in the 1830s. There is a simple and rather sad romantic story connected to the house. It seemed an easy episode idea for my podcast #StoriesOfIceland.
Was this gentleman Catholic or Protestant? I ended up digging through #IrishHistory, specifically the #Jacobites and the #WilliamiteWar. I had to cut most of it from the episode but I will likely return to the subject in the future.
The Young Gentleman Blows Hot and Cold The Hon. Arthur Dillon visited Iceland in 1834. He spent a little over a year in the country and later published a book about his travels. This episode covers both his observations on the Icelandic winter and his lasting legacy in the country.
