There's a new program called TinyWiiBackupManager which has an icon made by Microsoft Copilot *grumble* but everything else about it is pretty great. It's available for Linux, Windows 7 and up and some form of MacOS (I haven't kept up since they stopped using big cats for the version names). You can also rename the Windows executables to make them run in a portable configuration.

TinyWiiBackupManager can be used to install applications from the Open Shop Channel either to a directly connected SD card or over a network connection.

The main attraction, however, is making it easier to add Wii and GameCube disc images to loaders like USB Loader GX. Once I figured out that I didn't need to "Convert" the .iso files I already had on the card, I only needed to append the 6 hexadecimal character designation for that game in hard brackets, it became so easy to download cover and banner images. I finally have a reason to not just use Nintendont and its boring list.

I made theme music for the channel banner of the work-in-progress Wii homebrew

Fediverse Channel

project by
@tauon! I went for a frutiger aero/technozen vibe to match the overall Wii-era aesthetic Nintendo was going for. Frutiger aero music is a new genre for me, so it was a fun experience learning about it and trying different things.

I hope you all like it!

I may go back and improve this music more and maybe even create more music at a later time like when the project's development is further along.

Can any kind soul explain to me how to set up Fakemote on a homebrewed wii in great detail? I have a friend who can't use nunchuks. Other people said I didn't understand it enough to explain. but I'd really appreciate to be walked through it!

I have a Wii and a Wii U. My Wii does not work with my ISP's modem. Can I do all the mod and hacking stuff the Wii can do on the Wii U?
Things I wanna do off the top of my head are:
Wiimmfi, Forecast and News Channels, loading Wii ROMs off an SD Card or USB Stick, Wii game mods

Wii Backup Fusion doesn't put games in their own folders, they're all on root & it's a mess😭

Thanks to optimizations in PS1 emulation on the Wii, you can actually play most PS1 games at full speed almost 100% of the time and in the original resolution of the game.

With 240p mode and interlaced mode enabled, you get a near perfect output that's almost identical to as if you were playing it on a PS1. Here's some pictures of it off of the CRT. The frame rate counter can be seen in the upper left of one of them.

You can get this by looking for the WiiStation emulator, and finding the 240p branch of it if the 240p/CRT usage/pixel perfection interests you.

You can sync a Wii U Pro Controller to an original Wii! It is a bit of a process, but so that you can use it with homebrew apps and Nintendont, and benefit from that incredible battery life, give this a try if you like.

1. On the Wii Menu, press Home to bring up the home menu, then press the Sync button on the console. Then press the Sync button on the Pro Controller.

2. You should see the Pro Controller "attempt" to sync to it. The player indicator on the bottom will light up for a bit, then disappear. THIS MEANS IT HAS PAIRED. But the Wii Menu and any non homebrew apps will not recognize it so it instantly disappears.

3. Launch an app from homebrew channel, etc, that is shown as supporting Wii U Pro Controller. My suggestion is Nintendont with Native Control Off, FCE Ultra RX, SNES9XRX, Genesis Plus GX, Not64 or Wii64's latest versions, and mGBA. Priiloader can also detect it. Some of these apps may recognize it as a Classic Controller, but it works in the same way.

Something worth knowing is that using Nintendont to run GameCube games on the Wii allows the Wii to run the GC game in Wii mode.

This allows the GC game to take full advantage of the stronger Wii hardware, resulting in some games running much better if they had slowdown or skipped frames before!

And that's not all--with something called a C2W Patch, you can effectively pass the Wii U's souped up CPU core to Nintendont on Wii U's Wii Mode, giving it an even bigger boost to the CPU, which would be excellent for any potentially still CPU-bound games.

That said, it's only a CPU boost, so it might not necessarily provide as much of a boost to frame rate.
