There's a new program called TinyWiiBackupManager which has an icon made by Microsoft Copilot *grumble* but everything else about it is pretty great. It's available for Linux, Windows 7 and up and some form of MacOS (I haven't kept up since they stopped using big cats for the version names). You can also rename the Windows executables to make them run in a portable configuration.

TinyWiiBackupManager can be used to install applications from the Open Shop Channel either to a directly connected SD card or over a network connection.
The main attraction, however, is making it easier to add Wii and GameCube disc images to loaders like USB Loader GX. Once I figured out that I didn't need to "Convert" the .iso files I already had on the card, I only needed to append the 6 hexadecimal character designation for that game in hard brackets, it became so easy to download cover and banner images. I finally have a reason to not just use Nintendont and its boring list.
