Say goodbye to a subspecies, the very last male Northern White Rhino. It survived 55 million years & saw ice ages, earthquakes, meteor strikes & was a testament to innumerable historical changes on the planet. It could not survive humans.

Extinction Event, 2022.

This began as a detail image from a larger 2018 pastel painting on paper that I call "Balance." I've digitally manipulated the color in this cropped image, and renamed this view to "Extinction Event."

The Northern White Rhino became functionally extinct in 2018, and we continue to drive other species into extinction. If we continue on this path, it will eventually be us who are extinct.
