@chirpbirb Like, the initial guilt and fear folks (myself included) feel over possibly have done or said something #racist is totally normal. Like, of course you don't want to intentionally hurt anyone else, but instead of letting that fear and #WhiteGuilt manifest as defensiveness and become the focus of the conversation, it's important to recognize that your intent doesn't matter, accidents happen, and the best thing to do is apologize, learn from it, and grow as a person. I've found, for me, an important step in my #Antiracist journey has been to acknowledge that I have biases and they're gonna pop up sometimes
@bookstodon What a great little book! Lots of stuff going on so the reader needs to pay attention - #trauma, guilt, alternate realities, identity loss, cross-cultural relationships, monetizing grief and loss, #whiteguilt, and people and feelings that disappear in the furrows. Recommend it.
