Our first full day in the mountains of the Serranía de #Ronda with our guests was full emersion mountain #Birding!
Iberian Grey #Shrikes, Black #Wheatears, Blue Rock #Thrushes and Rock #Bunting encounters with Griffon #Vultures a constant companion as Golden Eagles, Bonelli´s Eagles and the first of 2025 Black Kites soared overhead!
We finished the day amongst a Choughnado! With masses of Red-billed #Chough noisily coming to roost!
As a beast of a #levante wind kicks in and closes the departure gate for soaring #Birds in The #Straits it´s #Wheatear fest down-town!
Both adult male Western Black-eared and Northern #Wheatears in their finest splendour arriving at the #migration party!
Black Storks, Black Kites, Booted and Short-toed Eagles and European Honey Buzzards wait for calmer conditions as they form swirling mesmerising masses over the heads of our guests 😊
Arrival day for our guests yesterday and the ferocious #Levante wind is holding up soaring #Bird #migration here with force 9 winds!
Overcast dramatic skies and crazy wind hardly seems like good #Birding but as ever The #Straits doesn't disappoint with optics and ears focused on Woodchat #Shrikes, singing Common #Nightingales, Western Black-eared #Wheatears, a Black-winged Kite, Eurasian Eagle #Owl and chicks and a continuing array of arriving passerine #Bird migrants!

We’ve taken to the mountains of the Sierra de #Gredos for a few days among constantly singing Ortolan #Buntings, Northern #Wheatears, Rufous-tailed Rock Thrushes, the all blue-throated Iberian #Bluethroats, Iberian Pied #Flycatchers and Citril #Finches 😊
