an actual cup from my cupboard per portion.
The amount of water depends on the type of #rice and the evaporation rate of the pan.
With the plain white rice and the pan we currently use, I think it's about a cup of water per cup of rice, plus an extra fixed cup of water to compensate for the evaporation.
