Since 2020, “rule of law” became politicians’ mantra, urging police to shut down #Wetsuweten solidarity blockades.
Fast-forward six years, the line has been abandoned in favour of something suggesting law is not so much a rule but something to be manipulated.

Just me, but is there a pattern showing up of Federal courts ignoring #Delgamuukw?
Particularly the many cases surrounding Coastal GasLink #pipeline by the Wet'suwet'en people, the #RCMP's paramilitary invasion/occupation forces. A few years earlier Stanley was aquitted for shooting and killed Boushie on 'his' land (in Treaty 6 territory.)
IANAL, but many of the cases seem to ignore the logical conclusions of the case.
@[email protected] Yes, the unanswered question, this hesitation by banks? It’s the longest running land claim case. Banks hesitation now & not when case began? Did this hesitation begin before or after the appeal? Reconciling the issue would be far quicker and perhaps far less uncertain than appealing a decision to the supreme court that’s likely to fail given the SCC’s decisions surrounding this. The cynic in me sees this as a well planned and carefully curated effort to anger inflame and outrage.

The #BCNDP & #GovernmentOfCanada are both still trying to criminalize environmental & #IndigenousSovereignty activism. The #BCgovernment created #RCMPCIRG in 2017 to crackdown on protestors. They are strictly a corporate mercenaries branch serving industry interests not public interests. Citizens tax monies are being exploited by BC NDP to pay these militarized thugs to commit violence so #ecocide corporations can profit more.*
Is #Canada at a point of no return, suffering the effects of #ClimateChange and worsening #wildfire seasons? Two controversial pipelines, the #TransMountain Expansion Project #TMX and #CoastalGasLink #CGL are being expanded and threatening the natural home of historically oppressed First Nations in Canada. But several First Nations are leading the fight against these massive #pipelines and becoming key advocates for protecting #nature from climate change.
Being a #LandDefender comes at a cost: harassment, detentions by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police
#RCMP and threats from private security. But, in the face of setbacks, these #Indigenous #activists press on: “We are still fighting. This dance is not over yet.” In this episode, we hear the stories of the #IndigenousCommunities on the receiving end of these huge pipelines and their fight for the protection of both humans and nature.

#Wetsuweten will be in court on August 21, 2025 as #Canada has filed a #MotionToStrike against their #climate #litigation case. Sound familiar? That’s because in July 2020, Canada filed a Motion to Strike against the Misdzi Yikh Charter challenge. Several years and an appeal hearing (that ended with the Federal Court of Appeal deciding that the section 7 of the Charter challenge was justiciable) later, Canada has filed for another Motion to Strike. Keep a lookout on RAVEN’s channels as we get closer to the hearing, we’ll be sharing lots of educational materials and actions to take to support Wet’suwet’en. Learn more about the #CharterCase and #donate to support the #legal action here.
