From a 2012 visit to Brighton for #MeerMittwoch today, here's the beach and a view of the famous West Pier. This was England's first Grade I Listed pier, opened in 1866 but closed in 1973 for safety reasons, deteriorating from then on, suffering more damage in 1987 with the storm that hit the country, then being hit by three suspicious fires in 2003 that gutted what was left.
