At least six indigenous Papuans were shot dead and two injured by joint security forces in Dogiyai Regency, #WestPapua on 31 March and 1 April 2026, following the killing of a police officer. Two minors are among the victims. Security forces reportedly opened fire indiscriminately in a market, residential areas, and inside homes. One elderly woman was shot dead inside her house. Between January and March 2026, Indonesian military operations in Puncak Regency #WestPapua involved drone-dropped explosives, mortars, and shootings directed at civilian villages and IDP settlements. On 8 February, grenades were allegedly dropped on civilian areas during Sunday worship services. Internet access was deliberately cut off during attacks to prevent civilians from reporting.
