Arrived at Flateyri, just like 5 busses from the cruises. Three are parked in the main street. I started at the old bookshop alone and hardly able to get out. 😨
I hope they all buy something. 😉

A clip to summarise my last trip to the #Westfjords in #Iceland in 2018.
The weather was interesting, the views were also interesting…the roads were muddy…and my car was tiny. Exiting, scary, beautiful, fascinating, impressive.
So kind of a good trip. (Why do I keep thinking that I always have good weather in Iceland? 🤷♀️)
The flight and the car are booked. Now I have to figure out where I’m going. 👀
What do you think of the Westfjords?
And yes, the other Icelandic horse did the same, but a little more elegantly. 😂

The goofiest and most fun to photograph pair of Icelandic horses, ever!

Flateyri in early summer (Westfjords, Iceland). This was in 2019. I remember thinking as I was enjoying the vistas there "life is good!" Little did I know...
Took these photos on our visit to Samuel Jónsson Art Museum in Selárdalur, Westfjords, Iceland six years ago. We met Gerhard König, a German sculptor who led the restoration work there. He was patching some cracks on one of the buildings when we approached him. He told us that every time he patched a crack, another one appeared somewhere else! 🙃
Here's a good article about the museum and the artist: https://grapevine.is/travel/2018/05/30/a-road-trip-to-the-weird-wonderful-samuel-jonsson-museum/

We usually go to Iceland in late Spring. It's nesting time, which means it's prime time for Arctic tern attacks. Met this Arctic tern in front of a church on the Strandir coast in Westfjords, obviously not impressed with us for daring to stop there to check out the church. It there was any nest nearby, I didn't see it. But then again, I wasn't outside the car for very long. I ran back into the car right after I took this photo because you don't need to be an ornithologist to tell when an Arctic tern is going after you.
