#WestCork friends, are gophers indigenous here? I have a small animal sized hole in my lawn.

Next concert tomorrow - and the very first one we’re co-organising in Ireland with France Baroque and the Church of Ascension - will take place in the beautiful village of Timoleague, a place rich in remarkable history!

On the programme: “Les Folies Françaises” , in partnership with the community of the Church of the Ascension.

A beautifulmoment to share together in the West Cork region.

Hope to see you there!

This is World Curlew Day. To celebrate a recording of this increasing rare bird taken on the banks of the River Ilen in West Cork last summer. (The music in the background was from a function at nearby Inishbeg House.)

Lucy will eine Patchworkdecke stricken, die aussieht wie Felder und Wiesen in einem irischen Tal. Ihr kleines Meisterwerk landet in der Ausstellung ›Kunst und Handwerk aus West-Cork‹ in Schull.

150 years ago, on 18 April 1876, six Fenian prisoners, who had been transported to Australia, boarded the whaler Catalpa and made their way to freedom. Among them was the Goleen-born Micheal Harrington. His story is among a number of biographies of early Fenians published in ‘The Cradle of Fenianism’: Skibbereen And The Early Fenian Movement, 1850–67 by William Casey.
