So I started re-listening to the #WelcomeToNightVale #podcast (such good memories) and was surprised to hear location-targeted ads in the middle of an episode. Are they injecting ads into their #RSS feed?
I don't want to use YouTube to listen to it, and I'd rather support the creators, but not through aggressive tracking & advertising…
Seems like they have an ad-free RSS feed on their Patreon. I'd rather buy it one-off than add another subscription, but it might be the only option.

Hatch is uncertain about his new walking route. Pretty sure he ascribes to the Night Vale version of the Dog Park. (No one should enter the dog park.) But I made him go in anyhow and the terrifying Something In The Dog Park was a friendly Irish Setter.

Started relistening to #WelcometoNightvale as I'd fallen out of the habit and good god. The advert placements are so gross.

Like I get it, you have to make money and shit but when a loud shouty ad for nothing related to the show pops up, it just ruins the entire vibe that they built their entire reputation on. The podcast specific ads are faded in relatively well and are less obtrusive.

If you need to run ads, be fucking creative with them in a way that doesn't destroy your audience's listening experience.

Now I'm sad. And I can afford £8 a month for Patreon because that's a lot.
