Also if it was a cat it would definitely be a tortoiseshell
neville park#WeevilWednesday: The other day I was at a native plant gardening thing and afterwards a few of us were checking out an overgrown patch and noting various plants. There was a lot of Canada thistle, _Cirsium arvense_ (which isn't actually from Canada) and I said the only good thing about it was that it often had weevils. And right then I spotted a Canada thistle bud weevil (_Larinus carlinae_) on one of them! I made the others look at it because LOOK AT IT.
Then I had to ask one of them to hold it for a moment so I could grab my clip-on macro lens and put it on my phone for photos.

There are several candidates which are all very fond of clover, I'm leaning towards #protapion apricans because of the characteristic half-dark-half-yellow front tibia, but the picture doesn't capture the antenna well.

I think this is _Barypeithes pellucidus_, a. k. a. the hairy spider weevil. Found in the garden snacking on a dandelion stem with its snoot covered in pollen.
