Weekly Update #239

Hello Readers.

One problem about living in the South is the “Yellow Plague.” For those of you who don’t live in the South, I’m referring to pine pollen, and most people in the South blame it for allergies and sinus infections in the spring. Because of the “Yellow Plague,” my sinuses are playing havoc with me.

In this drained state, I focused more on revisions rather than creating.

I finished my initial round of revisions to “Stains” and it is ready for a read through.

After completing the revision to “Stains,” I started reviewing “Dear Fate, Why Must I Choose,” and “After A Ghostly Millennium, I Am Heard.” I’ve only started the review process, but it is keeping me busy.

Finally, I pulled out an old project I started a few years ago and set aside. “The Bizarre Case of Jeffry Gobbler” is my attempt at a police detective-mystery and is one of the few stories my youngest is interested in me finishing. Hopefully, I can make a good push and get the first draft done.

That is it for this week, take care everyone.

Weekly Update #238

Hello Readers.

With the season change, I’ve felt a little drained this week some things I wanted to work on went to the wayside.

The first draft of “Manikin” (previously mis-titled “Marionette”) is complete. I’m now setting it aside to work on a few other things.

I had wanted to work on Amber, but just didn’t have the energy to. Instead, I pulled up “Stains From a Chicken Salad Sandwich” and started reworking it.

Like my earlier stories, I liked what I came up with, but felt it could be better. Now, some years later, I’ve pulled it back out and giving it good run through to bring the story up to the level it should be.

Finally, check out my latest VLOG entry.

That is it for this week, take care everyone.

Weekly Update #237

Hello Readers.

I had planned on putting “New Home Found, New Home Lost” out for beta, but after an attempt at a recording, I think it is actually ready to go.

A request for beta readers for “Naming the Seeress” did go out, but I got distracted by something else so I haven’t circled back to see if there were any hits yet.

Shortly after putting up the quest, I dove into a new project, “Marionette.” Set in 1889 Wyoming, this is my first attempt at a Western themed story. It is supposed to be a tale of soured friendships, revenge and hopefully a bit of redemption.

Friday and Saturday were lost days for me as I had to go get my youngest from school and bring her home. The move wore me out and I just had no creative energy left.

Currently, Kathy and I are planning on being at the The Fantasy Book Fair in Dothan, Al on May 2nd.

That is it for this week, take care everyone.

Weekly Update #236

Hello Readers.

A second week of OT and I’m feeling a little burned out. It also doesn’t help it is spring in the south and I’m feeling some of the effects of the pollen.

I did continue to revise and edit “New Home Found, New Home Lost,” and I feel it is now ready for going out for beta.

Also, I did my first revision to “The Wish.” As I was working on it, it screamed prelude to a novel to me. I had already started a story board for a follow up novel, so I made a few updates to the story board.

After a quick read through of “Naming the Seeress,” I’ve decided to see about getting some beta readers for it. I’m hoping for some good feedback on it.

Finally, be sure to check out the latest VLog.

That is it for this week, take care everyone.

Weekly Update #235

Hello Readers.

It has been an up and down week for me.

Initially, because Kathy was working nights, I had planned on doing a vlog this week even though it is my long work week. However, I had a chance at OT at my regular job and was exhausted when my shift was over.

I started to finish “To Draw a Soul, You Must Give Your Soul,” but quickly realized that the new recordings were too dis-similar in terms of tone and voice that I felt it created a “jarring” effect while I was listening. Because of this, I’m going to go back and re-record the whole thing from scratch.

Since I have a number of story boards done, I decided to go back and revise and edit a few stories. What happened with one of my earlier stories is nearly a complete rewrite of “New Home Found, New Home Lost.”

While I was always satisfied with the original version, my skills as a writer have improved and I decided to go in and try to clean it up a bit. So far, the new version reads so much better.

Finally, I’ve added “Things My Mother Never Told Me” to the blog.

That is it for this week, take care everyone.

Weekly Update #234

Hello Readers.

To start with, I’m happy to announce my brother-in-law, Chris Swallow, has finally crawled out from under his rock and started talking publicly about his book, Grimore of Tanzil, and his journey to get it complete. You can find his Substack at: Chris Swallow. Be sure to check him out.

For the past week, I have been knee deep in story boards. I think I story boarded half a dozen stories.

Among the stories I story boarded are the next installments of For the Love of Death and Twisted Tropes. This should keep me busy for a while.

That is it for this week, take care everyone.

Weekly Update #233

Hello Readers.

The first draft of “Hunting for Helen” is now complete. Though it is done and now resting before I go into editing and revisions, I already know I left too much hanging to call the overall story complete. So, there will be a part four to “Helen and the Angel.”

With “Hunting for Helen” out of the way, I went back to story boarding a few stories. I’ve had a few good ideas for Twisted Tropes and another For the Love of Death series and want to get them fleshed out some.

This coming week, I want to also start some editing on some other stories and hopefully get “Naming the Seeress” ready for a round of beta readers. In addition, I want to go back to “The Wish” and do a story board of it as the prologue of a novel.

That is it for this week, take care everyone.
