NorfolkGregToday I uploaded my usual morning scene to the #BBC #WeatherWatchers site. The #heron, that was visible on the bank then approached the house and walked right past our patio doors again. (See: https://mastodonapp.uk/@gregc/114016199665069186)
Initially it took an interest in the #water but then turned towards the house. It was only at this point, as I took a series of photos, that I realised, for the first time, how soft the crest feathers are and that they give a good indication of how strong the #wind is blowing - I uploaded a further picture to Weather Watchers, with a note indicating why it didn't show the sky, which is what they normally want to see.

Attached: 1 image The last picture I took was after we had turned the lights on. Even that did not faze the heron. It stayed a few minutes longer, probably till the solar lights on the decking switched on. The first of the images in this topic was taken at 16:46. This last one at 17:22.

I spent the morning travelling down the #RiverAnt and up the #Bure travelling to the #HamptonSafari #BoatClub annual gathering at #Salhouse Broad.
On the way I passed a couple of #yachts and have just posted the #sunset to #BBC #WeatherWatchers.
I've been attending in the hope that the trip will supply more material for my Hampton Safari web site.

Perhaps you're old enough to remember the #Penlee #lifeboat disaster, which happened 41 years today? A crew of 8 volunteers set out in #RNLI's "Solomon Browne" in hurricane force winds & 18m waves to rescue the crew from a boat whose engines had failed & was drifting towards rocks.
Despite heroic attempts, 16 lives were lost.

Brrrr!!! Light snow on top of frost here in #Oxfordshire, and it's barely risen above freezing all day! It was 0.5°C when I went out the Post Office at lunchtime.
