https://www.instagram.com/p/CrhCAI1PUMD/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_linkcouldn’t make a page about liberation and activism without advocating masking within an ongoing pandemic! much like fatphobia, ableism is pervasive — they often go hand in hand. to tackle fatphobia is to tackle ableism. if you are able to wear a mask and you choose not to, you are creating unsafe spaces and inaccessibility. the ableism and hyperindividualism that has been prominent with this ongoing pandemic has not been mentioned enough in activist and liberationist spaces. please stop going out to eat in bars and restaurants, and mask up when you are in public spaces. if you’ve stopped masking, you can and should start — the disproportionate impact on BIPOC, the lower class, disabled and immunocompromised folk has been devastating and should not be looked away from. the acute and chronic impacts of even one mild COVID infection is just as devastating and all-consuming (we’re talking dramatic increase in all-cause mortality for 1-year post a single infection and every organ irrevocably impacted). if we are in liberationist and activist spaces, we need to be actively engaged in harm reduction practices both individually and communally. please don’t further disable, murder, and alienate marginalized people and their voices 😷❤️
