I 💜 #VioletAffleck. She wears an N95 everywhere in public, she is right, & she is a force to contend with. Wicked smart, 19 years old, & she is already a great leader!

A Chronically Ill Earth: COVID Organizing as a Model Climate Response in Los Angeles

BY VIOLET AFFLECK I spent the January fires in Los Angeles arguing with my mother in a hotel room. She was shell-shocked, astonished at the scale of destruction in the neighborhood where she raised…

How do we #protest?

We #WearAnN95 indoors in public places. We don't dine indoors, go to concerts, or sports games. We take a "vacation" every 5 years, otherwise we #StayHome. I depressed my wages/left the #workforce because I didn't want to work for the rich, wealthy, or #oligarchs. We went from 2 incomes to 1. We #homestead as much as we can. We have a #SolarArray & drive a #hybrid. We eat #EthicalMeat. We have a #garden 3 seasons out of the year.

We consume less than in the #BeforeTimes.

Support your #IPC this week! There are still a few 🦄 💎 IPC officers out there who are still fighting the good fight to correct mis- and disinformation and create safe hospitals and clinics for patients to receive care. #COVIDisAirborne #IndoorAirQuality #InfectionPreventionControl #MaskUp #WearAnN95 #CovidIsNotOver

Anytime I feel insecure about asserting my #covid19 precautions and boundaries, I remind myself that the person I'm asserting them with would, in all likelihood, abandon me if I got #covid and then it turned into #LongCovid.

I got a sense of how quickly people will lose interest in me when I could no longer be fun when I became seriously ill a little over a decade ago. In my case, I eventually got better after surgery and physical therapy, but I spent nearly three years in pain and exhaustion to get to that point. In those three years, very few people stuck around to help me.

It's also why I'm still so concerned about trying not to spread covid. I would never wish the debilitating pain and loneliness I experienced on anyone, and I don't want someone to end up with long covid because I carelessly infected them.

Well, after a month of being on Feeld, I have been rejected by someone, who calls himself a "leftist" in his profile, for masking in public to protect myself and people I care about from #covid19.

It isn't that disheartening since I see it as the trash taking itself out, and also, I've been on several dates already with people who don't mask themselves but haven't expressed an issue with my doing so. What does frustrate me is the general lack of care for #DisabilityJustice and the ignorance of so many #leftists of #covid as an intersectional issue. Your so-called "revolution" means nothing if it does not protect people with disabilities.

The current #covid19 wave is so bad that my employer's CEO mentioned it during our all-staff meeting. He brought it up because he's now gotten it for a 3rd time.

It's not bad enough that he mentioned wearing a mask or taking time off to recover while being ill, and he's still pushing everyone to attend the organization's upcoming, in-person only retreat. But it is bad enough that he mentioned it.

I don't know what that means, but the fact that normies are noticing #covid again feels like...something...?

And I realize that I'm lucky. I'm lucky to be in a blue area where for the most part, people don't mock me for masking and people who aren't taking precautions are willing to test before they spend time with me. I'm also lucky that my area hasn't banned masks (not yet, anyway). I'm lucky that I'm not immunocompromised, so I can take the risk of going to public places and trusting that my mask and nasal spray and Stoggles and mouthwash will protect me.

But what would protect us all would be making mask wearing a regular habit. What would protect us all would be improving indoor air quality standards. What would protect us all would be having access to accurate, timely #covid transmission data that informed #PublicHealth and public policy.

It's a difficult burden to bear, being one of the few people out there who still cares about #COVID19

Not only is state support for Israel's+supporters' genocidal orgy a dire threat to Palestinian existence & Jews worldwide. It's also threatening to everyone worldwide who knows we are in an ongoing #COVID19 pandemic with another one probably on the way. #MaskUp #WearanN95

Today rhe FDA granted emergency use authorization for a new monoclonal antibody that immunocompromised individuals can take to help prevent #covid19. From MedPage: https://www.medpagetoday.com/infectiousdisease/covid19/109336

A part of me wonders how soon #covid will evolve to evade this drug, just like it did with Evusheld, but at the same time, if this new drug can prevent even some people from getting further disabled by #LongCovid or prevent them from dying, then it's worth it.

It's also still worth it to #WearAnN95 because unfortunately #CovidIsNotOver.

New Monoclonal Authorized to Prevent COVID in Immunocompromised People

No such option has been available since FDA revoked the authorization of Evusheld last year

Also, today at work, one of my co-workers complained about a photo on the website from an event my organization held in 2022, in which an attendee was wearing a KN95. I replied that I still wore a mask regularly and that there are still people who are at risk from #covid, so if the organization wants to be as inclusive as it claims, then we should represent people who #MaskUp. This shut my co-worker up very quickly!
