and in other news, I decided to try the shift first, using "Jane" by @freesewing . In a nightgown, a former bedsheet with a pattern I wouldn't wear as a regular garment is probably ok or even fun. I consider that a #WearableMuslin .

I might also be tempted to use this as a handsewing practice project, as well as practicing my seam finishing skills. But probably it's a good idea, at least for the first one, to do the long seams by machine.

@gannet
Unwearable shorts should convert pretty easily into a bag. I have a couple of not so #WearableMuslin tops that I should convert into something practical.

That's great that you got the fit that works for you! Lovely fabrics, too. I like that pattern but have a scrubs pattern that worked very well as pyjamas, as well as some of the #WearableMuslin clothes that I've made from sheets. Next up will be my first draft of the #ChanterellePants.

That's a lovely pattern! I have a lot of #WearableMuslin. Some are slightly less wearable due to fit but for the most part, what I've made gets worn. I'll be taking a sewing course this fall with an experienced pattern designer so I'll try to get her input on how to alter future iterations of what I've made. A couple of my favourite items have very odd darts, necklines, and armscyes. Someday, I'll have an ideal bodice!
Today I am wearing my semi-wearable muslin for the Cashmerette Roseclair wrap dress. Semi-wearable as I need to do something to the bodice but not had time to figure out what, exactly, I need to do. It is nice and cool though, and with a camisole under is totally wearable even if the bodice looks a bit odd. Made of a former duvet cover, I really like the printed pattern, it is very cheerful. #Sewing #wearableMuslin

I can easily leave these tedious projects for a LOT longer than that! However, I finally finished my #WearableMuslin of a pair of shorts (made with a repurposed sheet) including #FrenchSeams and #pockets. They're wearable but the pocket openings are too tiny to be effective.
@Purplejavatroll I’m so happy that I obtained the fabric for $2/metre or less. Helps me to be super confident about trying it out. #WearableMuslin #sewing

I'm aiming to choose a handful of patterns and create them with coordinating colours so that I have a #CapsuleWardrobe. Since I've located thrifted fabrics that are suitable for experimenting with, I may have a few spare items as #WearableMuslin clothing. Still, that's fabric that was saved from the landfill so I count that as a win.
#MeMadeMay2023 @sewing This is a #WearableMuslin of a self-drafted skirt to wear over shorts. It was made with leftovers of low-cost broadcloth and #BaliBatik for the pocketbags. I didn’t like the length, the ease, or the pockets very much but purple is my favourite colour & I did a great job with a stitch-in-the-ditch enclosed waistband and the pockets were a new technique for me. Quite functional for home or errand days.
#MeMadeMay2023 My first #AshtonTop. Lots I like about how this turned out with thrifted sheets. I struggled hard with the facing after sewing the side seams first. I won’t make that mistake again. Rectified the lack of #pockets yesterday. Sadly, these pockets were too small. I’ll lengthen my future makes to allow more space for the ever-essential #pockets. Also, more coverage of my lumpy bits. #WearableMuslin
