@ChrisMayLA6 Echoes of the past can be heard in the problems of the present. The revolutionary notion of democracy was put on hiatus in 1787, and the coup of the oligarchs continues to this day. https://riverasun.com/oligarchy-as-american-as-poisoned-apple-pie
#WeThePeoples need to stop history repeating itself & learn from it. #Justice #universalequality #universaleducation #UnityInDiversity planetisation is the only future for these things. #patriarchalcapitalism has to end as part of that process.
A possible way forward, no professional politicians, a well trained, accountable, and properly staffed civil service. #Cosmolocalism through peoples assemblies, sortition. To my mind, that is #participativedemocracy
The representative democracy experiment needs to end.
Oligarchy: As American As Poisoned Apple Pie - Rivera Sun

by Rivera Sun The current struggle between democracy and oligarchy in the United States traces its roots back to the 1787 Philadelphia Convention where the wealthy elite pulled off a counter-revolutionary coup to stifle democracy. Oligarchs are as American as poisoned apple pie. Their wealth and power look mouth-wateringly good, but with every bite, democracy […]

@zephry There are many forms of democracy that have to, by definition, be an experiment. Representation has had its day.
I don't need professional politicians; I need an accountable civil service.
I don't need lobbyists; I  need choice.
I don't need representation; I need a place.
I don't need to be told; I need to be heard.
I don't need divisive tribal politics.
What I need is a fully staffed, well trained, truly independent civil service, guided by peoples assemblies, guided by experience. We can have #Unityindiversity.
"I" can't speak for "others" but "we" can agree, if not we can have a dialogue, there is a way through this and many of the the 99% are experimenting with options. Others are waking up every day and joining the conversation. Many of them are taking action. I am grateful.

The #UN for all its shortcomings (understatement) seems our last best hope. Choice not philanthropy dependance. Equity not injustice. Unity not division. Peace not war. Security not fear. Respect not abuse. Life not extinction. Sooner not later. Partnership not domination. @worldfederalist @AssociationofW1 #WeThePeoples are interdependent. #Unity #Love @UNDP #equality #Equity

Heather Cox Richardson addresses the question of What Could Possibly Go Right? with a political focus.
My takeaway from this podcast: #WeThePeoples are rewting a new social contract. Read the speeches of Abraham Lincoln.
Her insights include:
That the current condition is waking people up from autopilot and creating the realization they need to pursue change personally to create the society in which they want to live.
A reminder that the beauty of a democratic system is getting to choose which direction to go.
That the desire for equality of opportunity and access should no longer be pushed to the narrative of special interest in politics.
The potential to innovate and create change through crowdsourcing government and society.
That the American dream needs to be rewritten and move away from the heteronormative nuclear family as its centerpiece, to a more community-centered and diverse view.

We used to manufacture weapons for #war, now we manufacture wars for weapons. #WeThePeoples can/will/are and always have changed the world. That change has to lead to transformation.
Political leaders have a vested interest in maintaing the status quo. They offer change to make us feel we have achieved something, it is not enough. Let's end #patriarchalcapitalism that could lead to the transformation we need.

Some billionaire visits a food bank, sic and sick.
Present #patriarchalcapitalism is about domination, It's about profit! #WeThePeoples have nothing to do with this system, other than as commodities. I need choice not philanthropy dependance. Equity not injustice. Unity not division.
