Waterfall, rock, and a little bit of rainbow.

What caught my eye here was the power of the water against all that dark volcanic rock. The waterfall feels loud and alive, but the rainbow near the base adds this quiet little surprise.

Small waterfall near Reflection Lake.

This was one of those quieter stops in Mount Rainier National Park that would be easy to pass by, but the shape of the falls and the small peak rising in the far background is what caught my eye.

I liked how the scene had both things at once, the close-up rush of water in front and that quiet mountain view tucked behind it.

What catches your eye first, the waterfall or the peak in the distance?

Bridal Veil Falls, Columbia River Gorge, Oregon

What I liked most here was how the waterfall felt tucked inside the forest instead of standing apart from it. The moss, rock, and rushing water all worked together and made the whole scene feel cool, quiet, and alive.

What catches your eye first, the waterfall or all that green around it?

I drove down to Oregon this past weekend and stopped by Multnomah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge.

I was amazed at how tall the falls were. The bridge gives the scene scale, but standing below the falls is what really makes you feel its height. You have to look way up to see the top.

I felt small in the best way. The sound of the water, the height of the cliffs, and the bridge tucked between the two drops made the scene feel bigger than a photo can really show.
