The old mill in Arloff (Bad Münstereifel municipality, Euskirchen district) on the River Erft was indebted to the lord of the nearby Arloff Castle. The Erft not only allowed the operation of numerous water mills, it was also the cause of frequent, sometimes devastating floods, such as in July 2021. The sandbags are still a remnant of the fight against the flood.
