This will be the final daily update for the Cram Fire unless fire activity changes.
As containment & suppression repair objectives are met, firefighting resources & excess equipment will be released from the incident & made available to fill other needs.
There were some areas of heat detected yesterday on the southeast portion of the fire, well within the fire perimeter. Firefighters continue to patrol & mop-up to further secure containment lines. This includes assessing threats and extinguishing areas of interior heat that may pose a threat to containment lines.
Work is ongoing to restore soil stability and vegetative cover in areas impacted by suppression-related activities.
Weather: Today will be hot & dry again, with temperatures in the high 80s to low 90s and humidity around 25%. NW winds will be gusty in the afternoon, potentially 25 miles per hour along ridgetops. Unburned green islands within the fire perimeter may produce smoke and isolated tree torching may occur.
Evacuations: Evacuations remain in effect for some zones around the fire. Please refer to official evacuation maps for the most up-to-date info: Jefferson County: tinyurl.com/JCSOEvacMap

To better secure the SE perimeter around Beaver Creek, firefighters were preparing to conduct strategic burning operations today on about 10 acres of the Butte Creek Fire…improved the containment line. A Type 1 Helicopter was poised to support the operation with water drops if needed. Firefighters had success securing containment lines on the northern perimeter of the Beaver Creek area as well.
Today, firefighters will continue to look for & extinguish areas of heat on the northern perimeter of the fire. Crews will patrol and secure containment lines adjacent to Highway 9 & in the SE corner of the fire perimeter & Coyote Creek.
Temps today are forecasted to stay warm, although cooler than THU. W and NW winds are expected to gust up to 20 miles per hour. There will be higher daytime humidity levels, as today is the transitional day leading into a cool front. Lower temps are forecasted for the coming days.
Isolated areas of active fire behavior may occur with low potential for spread in the timber litter and dead and downed debris. There is potential for isolated torching in interior unburned areas that may cause visible smoke.

Strategic firing operations were successfully implemented to remove unburned fuel east of Hay Creek between NE Old US Highway 97 and the fire’s edge.
Today, firefighters will focus on mopping up around structures in areas of minimal or no current fire activity. North of East Ashwood Road, ground personnel working closely with aerial support, are constructing line directly on the fire’s edge where conditions allow. Fire managers continue to evaluate terrain, fire behavior and hazards to determine the safest and most effective tactics. Crews will monitor expected dynamic fire behavior throughout the day and focus on strengthening containment lines and tying together unconnected sections.
Weather: A Red Flag Warning is in effect today from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. for dry and windy conditions. Winds will shift to the northwest, increasing to 10-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph possible. Winds are expected to decrease overnight but may increase again on Friday before the passage of a cold front this weekend, which will bring cooler temperatures and higher humidity.
Evacuations: Evacuations remain in effect. Jefferson and Wasco County Sheriffs have issued Level 3 (GO NOW), Level 2 (BE SET), and Level 1 (BE READY) evacuations across multiple zones. Please refer to official evacuation maps for the most up-to-date info:

Northwest Complex Incident Management Team 10 (NW Team 10), under the leadership of Incident Commander Steve North, joined a Unified Command of the Cram Fire with the Oregon State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Green Team at 6 a.m. today. NW Team 10 spent the day shadowing their counterparts from the High Desert Type 3 Incident Management Team yesterday to ensure a seamless transition and continued coordination with the OSFM Green Team. This effort is part of a strong interagency partnership among local, state, and federal responders working together to protect lives, property, and natural resources.
The northern part of the fire, along Oregon Route 293, exhibited decreased fire activity yesterday, allowing firefighters to continue securing the line, mopping up hot spots and patrolling in that area. In anticipation of today’s Red Flag Warning, crews focused on structure protection, and aviation operations continued in areas of increased heat. On the southern portion of the fire, heavy equipment was utilized to complete and connect unfinished fire lines. During the night shift, two additional strike teams of engines patrolled and mopped up to ensure those lines held through the night while personnel further bolstered structure protection.

Update from Rowena Fire 2025:
The fire is 3,831 acres and 5% contained.
Crews Hold Ground on Rowena Fire; Resource Levels Adjust
Rowena, Ore. – Incident priorities remain unchanged today as firefighters continue making steady progress on the Rowena Fire.
Despite sustained winds reaching up to 30 mph overnight, crews had a productive shift. Night operations focused on prepping line along the west and southwest portions of the fire, while patrol and mop-up continued in the southern areas. Fire activity flared up in the northern interior but was successfully extinguished and contained.
Today, crews will continue patrolling and mopping up along the perimeter, while line construction resumes in the southwest to clean up remaining edges. Removing hazard trees remains a top priority, especially along Highway 30 and I-84, where steep terrain and swirling winds pose safety concerns.
Structural resources remain engaged as the Oregon State Fire Marshal begins adjusting its response in line with the decreasing threat to homes.
“As the scope and scale of the fire decrease, we’re adjusting our resources to ensure our workforce continues to align with OSFM’s mission of structural protection. We’re incredibly grateful for the dedication of our crews and look forward to seeing them return home safely to rest and prepare for what’s ahead,”
– Kelly Zakrzewski, Chief of Operations, OSFM..

Highlights from official press briefing:
Oregon Department of Forestry:
Brought on extra scoopers Sunday and they were used.
Yesterday was busy with 12 different fires across the district, one of them being Rowena. Response involved multiple agencies and partners. Our conditions are similar to August ERC (Energy Release Component) percentiles. The fire is burning well/a lot.
Matt Howard is coming in with Complex Incident Management Team #2, which is briefing into the incident this afternoon. They will do a great job.
United States Forest Service (USFS):
USFS is currently Incident Command until the Complex Incident Management Team comes in.
The fire started on NW corner and had 25 mph sustained wind. The initial attack resources leapfrogged from home to home trying to save as many as possible. The edge of the fire on the south got worked on by a dozer last night - mostly a piece of fire on the top that does have a line on it. The fire hasn't moved on the North side or Southeast side. Fire crews are improving and developing control lives and going direct where possible.
Oregon State Fire Marshal Green Team:
Sent structure fire resources consisting of 8 Task forces from 8 counties.
Sheriff’s Office: 541-506-2724 is a message line for people to inquire about folks that haven't been heard from...
0% containment at this time, in triage at the moment...
