Each rope segment is tied off with a decorative element that puts a contemporary spin on traditional fringing.

Made of synthetic yarn and sewn by hand, Pleidi is both UV and weather resistant while being soft underfoot.

"Pleiadi is an idea born out of the blue, a sketch from the past made on a piece of paper," said Zani.

"No research, no computer processing, only the continuity of an element that repeats itself within a geometric shape."

The Pleidi rug comes in two sizes and is suited to outdoor spaces as well as wet areas around saunas and spas.

La Lune Sous Le Chapeau by Man Ray for Warli

Dezeen Showroom: Italian brand Warli has recreated the La Lune Sous Le Chapeau table lamp by American visual artist Man Ray and introduced new colour finishes for its base and shade.

The La Lune Sous Le Chapeau was designed by American visual artist Man Ray in 1974 for Dino Gavinas. It marries a slender steel base with a lampshade made from a folded sheet of cardboard.

Warli's reissue maintains the simplicity of this original design but brings it up to modern-day standards with new materials and 48 interchangeable colour combinations.

Warli has reissued the La Lune Sous Le Chapeau lamps

The 60-centimetre-tall lamp's original cardboard shade has been replaced with a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) version that is lined with fabric and available in eight colours.

A powder-coated metal structure has been used for the stand, which is available in six colours ranging from cream to dark grey. La Lune Sous Le Chapeau is compatible with LED sources.

They celebrate Man Ray's original design with new materials

"The light is an objet trouvé as it re-evaluates basic materials, low technology, formal simplicity," explained Warli.

"An apparently anonymous, anti-design lamp, provocative with a strong poetic content: the simplest lampshade supported by the most elementary of bases."

Ponza outdoor rug by Paolo Zani for Warli

Dezeen Showroom: designed by Paolo Zani for Italian brand Warli, the Ponza rug combines traditional weaving with a high-tech yarn that makes it suitable for the outdoors.

The Ponza rug is made using the hand-knotted sumak weaving technique, traditionally used in the Caucasus and Persia, in a synthetic weather-proof yarn.

The Ponza rug is suitable for indoors and outdoors

With each rug featuring five blocks of mélange colour, Ponza is meant to give outdoor settings the same level of elegance and care normally associated with interiors.

The yarn is durable, UV resistant and water repellant, and can also be given stain-proof and anti-mould treatments.

It is made using the traditional sumak weaving technique

There are four neutral colour combinations, including white/dark, grey/pink/brown/cream, and cream/grey/white/soil/dark grey.

It is also possible to order custom colours, in consultation with Warli's technical department.
