“Il ministro Crosetto continua a rassicurare il Paese ma le circostanze dicono l’esatto contrario: la Sicilia è, nei fatti, fronte strategico di una guerra che sta incendiando il Medio Oriente. Ed è inaccettabile che il Parlamento Siciliano debba apprendere dalla stampa, non dalle istituzioni, l’intensificazione delle operazioni belliche a pochi chilometri da Catania”.
Così Jose Marano, deputata regionale del Movimento 5 Stelle, intervenuta ieri a Sala d’Ercole con un duro atto di accusa riguardo all’attività febbrile registrata nella base aeronavale di Sigonella.
“Nelle ultime settimane – ha spiegato Marano – abbiamo assistito al decollo incessante di droni per la sorveglianza strategica e l’intelligence, assetti che forniscono dati tattici essenziali per i bombardamenti in corso. Ma il salto di qualità è avvenuto sabato scorso: le ultime notizie sembrano confermare il rischieramento di cacciabombardieri in assetto combat-ready, pronti all’uso e muniti, quindi, di armi e bombe. Sigonella a questo punto sembrerebbe non più base logistica ma fronte avanzato per operazioni d’attacco. Pretendiamo che il Presidente della Regione riferisca immediatamente in Aula: i siciliani hanno il diritto di conoscere l’effettivo ruolo della Sicilia in questa guerra”.

And it is unacceptable that the Sicilian Parliament must learn about the intensification of military operations just kilometers from Catania from the press, not from the institutions.

Thus, Jose Marano, regional deputy of the Five Star Movement, intervened yesterday at Sala d’Ercole with a harsh accusation regarding the feverish activity recorded at the Sigonella naval airbase.

“In the last few weeks – Marano explained – we have witnessed the incessant take-off of drones for strategic surveillance and intelligence, assets that provide essential tactical data for ongoing bombings. But the leap forward came last Saturday: the latest news seems to confirm the deployment of fighter-bombers in combat-ready configuration, ready for use and armed, therefore, with weapons and bombs. Sigonella at this point would no longer appear to be a logistical base but a forward line for offensive operations. We demand that the Regional President immediately address the Chamber: the Sicilians have the right to know the actual role of Sicily in this war.”
