Something I've been following via a conscientious objectors' network.
"... commanders are now struggling to find enough reservists willing to serve. Some calculations show a 30% downturn in reserve deployment. Kan, Israel’s national broadcaster, puts the decline closer to 50%. ... The majority have refused because they have grown weary of a war that has failed to achieve a resolution nor succeeded in returning the Israeli hostages taken by Hamas. Many are suffering from exhaustion, both physical and emotional."

in the history rhymes department, i have this thought experiment: if we're running like lab rats in a maze, and what we are reenacting is the vietnam story arc, then we can safely bet (though betting is haram) that the next phase is american boots on the ground in gaza fighting the type of urban warfare the IDF is not as good at as we are. we invented the whole door-kicking thing. we'll be stuck in a quagmire fighting our client state's illegal war for them. the only way to avoid that fate is to utterly pull the plug on support for their occupation. not sure how that's going to work out. but maybe i'm just paranoid, although i've never been wrong about these types of things before. i'm watching uncle joe with a side eye. "god bless our troops" 🫡
