🇨🇦 #WarJournal Day 3: Ford , the new unofficial trade minister had a late night call with Lutnick regarding tariffs. Apparently everyone is having "very productive" calls, so productive that after his call with Lutnick he called the Prime Minister and they agreed on full retaliatory tariffs.
One interesting tidbit, Ontario cars made with more than 50% US parts may be except from tariffs.

🇨🇦 #WarJournal Great interview with Flavio Volpe president of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers' Association on auto tariffs, the potential impacts and the potential retaliation. "You can't get on a call with the president if he's not prepared to hear the math" #ElbowsUp
🇨🇦 #WarJournal Day 2: Carney convenes the Canada-US cabinet in response to the Trump administrations announcement of auto tariffs. Looks like some sort of retaliatory response is in the works.
In other news BC is considering an export tax on US coal moving through Delta port in Tsawwassen. #Elbows Up
🇨🇦 #WarJournal Day 1. The US announces that they will be removing sanctions from Russian pot ash and of course that combined with an upcoming 25% tariff on Canadian pot ash is a serious blow to the economy of Saskatchewan. If Russia can meet demand it also takes away an important Canadian lever in the trade war. Not to mention it enriches a European autocrat currently in a shooting war with one of our allies. #ElbowsUp #CanadianPoli
