i've heard some people relish over the fact #TTRPG and #wargame playing are happening more and more in the open compared to olden times, say the 80's and earlier. i've heard the very opposite from people thinking it's going to bring in "casuals".
i get it. there's some bad blood, but this new blood, regardless of social standing, including higher societal standing individuals, should be welcome to the table. if they're acting rude, we politely remind them the table is for all. case in point: my daughter. she's a social butterfly and turned her nose at the whole concept of role-playing games as being "too nerdy". however, she's recently softened her stance and it's been a great boon for her treatment of "nerdy" individuals as she talks openly to even her friends about it.
my son is afraid, however, of being found as an RPG'er at an early age because his friends are all jocks. has it stopped him from playing in secret? not in the slightest.
