A kind of prequel to the amazing 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦, I'll be interested to see how he translates his sharp & savvy 21st century styles to the 19th century. Sounds like it, too, will be worth a podcast episode, maybe this week!

Please could you stay awhile to share my grief. For its such a lovely day. To have to always feel this way. And the time that I will suffer less.

@bookstodon I just reviewed WANDERING STARS, by Tommy Orange, and it blew my mind! I've selected it as one of my favorite books of 2024. My full review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/5872885938 #WanderingStars #TommyOrange
Kim Lockhart's review of Wandering Stars

5/5: This novel is extraordinary. I have chosen it as one of my top 2024 reads of the year. I already loved Tommy Orange, so no one had to sell me on his work. I didn't even read a blurb about the new novel, because I already knew going in, that it would be exceptional, and that I would learn about Indigenous history, culture, and practice, all the joys and pain wrapped up in those experiences. If you have read Brandon Hobson, Louise Erdrich, or Leanne Betasamosake Simpson, you'll want to add Tommy Orange to that pantheon of writers, if you have not already. A note of advice: It may be helpful...

Did you why the number 7 is so important in human culture?

Ancient observers noticed that seven heavenly objects (the Moon, Mercury, Venus, the Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn) moved at different paces in the sky both from each other and from the fixed stars beyond them.

Those #WanderingStars formed the first deities in many cultures.

Did you know that the #Planets were originally thought to be #WanderingStars?

Five wandering stars - #Mercury, #Venus, #Mars, #Jupiter, and #Saturn - were known to the ancients. To the unaided eye, these planets appear starlike. However, the planets moved differently and were called wandering stars. Our word "planet" comes from the Greek word #planetes, meaning "wanderer."
