Inevitably, #Walktober ended in a downpour - but at least this #duck is enjoying the #rain! (#StreetArt from #JamesStraffon)
And I've loved the month of evening & urban #walks—keeping my legs moving through dark of the year
Thanks @GoJauntly for the idea & #CityStrides for location inspiration!

#CityStrides can be a great way to find those bits of #London I can easily to get to, yet habit and pinch-points keep me away. But tools can be the most dangerous masters – I need to resist the temptation to stare at the map too much, keep seeing the world around me.

Seen at the end of another long city #walktober wander, #Arsenal station's corridors always feel a mixture of terrifying and strangely hilarious (as I only visit when it's pretty empty)

On Wednesday I walked Aldgate to Seven Sisters, (visiting in between) close to a straight line. Someone said "Not a very pretty road though?" But watching how much #London changed around me, seeing the #StreetArt of #JimVision, #Loretto & others— that was beautiful

You're walking through an alleyway when suddenly…a #tree leans over the fence? No, not a tree – a #dragon with wooden flesh. She asks you where her forest grove has gone—only fell asleep for a century or so. Can you help her find it?

Continuing the #halloween theme - when I stared into the darkness on a night-walk near Clissold… something stared back!

It's all getting a bit #halloween creepy around #Islington at the moment…

How many #rivers shall I #walktober down? The answer shall always be "Another, ANOTHER!" On Sunday, it was the Duke of Northumberland - a man-made mill-stream, yet still #beautiful for that. (1/2)

A wise philosopher* said "The way I see it, if you want the #rainbow, you gotta put up with the #rain!" And on this #walktober wander through many woods just outside the M25 yesterday with the @Metwalkers we were graced with both (and much more beauty I'll share later).

"Sigh. I remember when we had *real* #trees…"
(I lie; for #London is actually a #forest.)

I love exploring #London for its eternal capacity to surprise—like when I #walktober down a dead-end mews to see what's there… and it's a #MorrisMinor hearse!

I assume film prop, but looking up 'Charles Stephens' I find they're #Wirral funeral directors, spot the hearse is in a couple of their photos online - and due to the all-hours nature of their work, end up having a lovely chat with them at about 11pm!
