Henry David Thoreau took notes about bird sightings & plant phenology around Walden Pond for 10 years, (esp. detailed 1851-54), so researchers can compare dates of flowering/leafing out of plants & arrival of migrating birds 175 years ago with now.

Shifts to earlier devlpmt/later migrations for birds mean that their food sources may not be available when they arrive.
