Nearly 4,000 Aboriginal men and boys were imprisoned on Rottnest Island (Wadjemup) from 1838 to 1931.
This week, around 250 Aboriginal delegates gathered to honour those who died in custody on the island. #Wadjemup (#Rottnest) was a delightful experience.
In the morning, i was a bit afraid I wont be able to see #Quokkas because i couldn't see any. Turns out they're nocturnal. After a tour of the island, they started to appear everywhere.
The little marsupials even liked to be around the touristy spot and took no issue in taking pictures with you.
Currently on the way to Wadjemup, or how the decentents of the colonists call it: Rottnest Island, hope to see some quokkas there
