So it's once again time for the Owlbear to get some rest. Trixie made three Cadbury Creme Egg omelettes for dinner tonight. So naturally she ate both and I got take out. She's up in her lair laying back on her hord, reading One Pound Gospel by Rumiko Takahashi and complaining about how I never eat her cooking.

Instead of a game recommendation, I've got something game adjacent for all my #LinuxGaming friends: Jackify.

Over on Windows there's this modlist manager called #Wabbajack. It was (so, so obviously) originally made for #Skyrim, but has since expanded substantially. It offers streamlined install of *massive* mod lists, including managing load order and everything.

Jackify is an appimage that let's you use Wabbajack on Linux… sorta. Rather, it uses Wabbajack for you. Whatever, it makes huge modlists like Begin Again: Tale of Two Wastelands easy to install. Give it a look!

And I'm out. Take care of each other. Be kind, spread love, mod the fuck outta games!

Goodnight 😴

Putting out a call for anyone out there who can help me out with a WebView on Wine issue, specifically with macOS.

I'm trying to see if I can not only run Skyrim on macOS via Wine, but ALSO mod it. And specifically, using the Wabbajack tool. I am able to install and run Steam and Skyrim, but I'm blocked on running WebView. Wabbajack loads, but I CANNOT use it to log into Nexus.

The blocker appears to be WebView, it's not properly loading the authorization page to let Wabbajack use my Nexus credentials. Behavior I'm seeing is that a frame loads and the correct auth URL is in its address bar, but the actual web page never loads.

Anybody able to advise? Thanks in advance!

First of probably at least a couple of posts describing my experimentation with getting a modded Skyrim working on my M1 MacBook Pro. using Wine. Describes experimenting with the Whisky app as well as a trial version of Crossover. Findings so far: Skyrim itself works, but modding is going to be a challenge! MO2 works, but not so much on Vortex or Wabbajack. Recommendations from informed parties are welcome.

Detailed instructions for players of the Tuxborn modpack for Skyrim to use if they want to synchronize saves across multiple directories or devices. Includes options for how to do so locally as well as using cloud services, and what apps to consider for the task.

I wrote this up after the players on the Tuxborn Discord realized that .SKSE save file information does _not_ get saved to the Steam Cloud. This was breaking play for folks wanting to play on both PC and Steam Deck!

Skyrim players using other modpacks based on Wabbajack may also find this useful; adapt these recommendations appropriately.

For those of you who like variety, there's Skyrim!😀 #skyrim #elderscrolls #darkbrotherhood #wabbajack
Trying out a #Wabbajack modlist for #Skyrim. I kinda wish I'd paid the five bucks to nexusmods to automate things so I didn't have to click on 557 windows.

Looks like only 10% of my gaming time was on Windows this year 😀

That 10% was entirely taken up by heavily-modded #Skyrim - struggled to get it working properly with #Wabbajack and the #LibrumSE modpack. The rest of my gaming life this year was all Linux 😁

So state of #steamdeck automated modding for #Bethesda games as I see it now. #Wabbajack: still basically impossible to run on #linux, #Vortex works with steamtinkerlaunch and you can do Nexus collections - but you lose #MO2 support.
Don't even bother trying to do #Skyrim - mods are a mess right now. But you may have a shot doing stuff like #Oblivion using collections.

This is something I hope we will see significant improvement on.

It's unfortunate that #Wabbajack isn't compatible with #winelinux/#steamproton given that literally every game for which it can install mods is. I rediscover this every few years when I want to revisit #Skyrim, #Morrowind, #Oblivion, #Fallout, etc. #linuxgaming #gamingonlinux
