@failedLyndonLaRouchite Good point, I should have tagged that post with #WXTools!

For anyone following that hashtag, the National Weather Service has a new way of evaluating the impacts of heat, called HeatRisk. The link to the tool and more information can be found here: https://wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/heatrisk/

I will note that it doesn’t work in Safari for me, but does work in Firefox.

I would love to install a weather station at my house. However I have a wall of trees on the south side. I am afraid the wind anemometer would get inaccurate readings for direction and strength. Anyone know a good guideline for installation? #wxgeek #WXTools

My local NWS office (GYX) stopped issuing the surf forecast product (SRF) about a month ago (possibly seasonally) - unfortunately a really important product for judging winter coastal storm / nor’easter impacts. However, Windy v40 website & app has just stepped in to the gap with a new Waves&Tide forecast visualization. https://community.windy.com/post/166156 #WXtools

I will again say I really love the averages visualization on the stock iOS Weather app. You can really see the impact of the two big rainstorms of the month.

It nicely displays the expected vs. observed precipitation over the last 30 days.

I wish the temperature one had a longer time horizon than one day, though. You can’t really look at trends like you can with the precipitation visualization.

I just discovered that the #Apple #Weather app has a really neat feature for showing averages.

As you can see in the attached photos, they supply a nice visualization of daily temperature and monthly precipitation averages.

Main downside is their start point for calculating the averages is 1970, which doesn’t fall in line with the NWS guidelines. But it’s a cool feature all the same.

Hey #Weather & #WXTools folks: what’s up with the TBOS radar station? KBOX is higher res and longer range. Is it just legacy? If so, why is it still used? I always have to remember to not choose TBOS when looking at Massachusetts weather.
