Film of the year has got to be Benediction.

I admit I’m biased: Terence Davies is my favourite director - gay, Liverpudlian, (a bit) grumpy, honest, unashamedly and somehow radically nostalgic, truly cinematic.

WW1 poet Siegfried Sassoon was a great choice of subject (though I can’t say I warmed to him) and the performances are beautiful.
