In 1939 Eric was a student and he lived with his family at 9 Old Hill, Conisbrough.

3. He went to France in January 1915 and was killed in action at Loos on 4th October 1915 aged 39. He is remembered on the Loos Memorial at Dud Corner Cemetery. #WW1 #doncasterplantworks

2. George William Butler joined the 1st Battalion (51st Foot) King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Service No. 3378. Rank Corporal (A/L/Sgt. Enlisted on 12th July 1897, took part in the South African War between (1899-1902). Served seven years with the Colours and five years on Reserve. During that time, he was a labour at the Plant Spring Shop. He re-enlisted in November 1914. #WW1 #doncasterplantworks
