@EUCommission And, egoistically, I'd love you to engage in some #WTFistheCouncil posts & euroshitposting, but maybe that's asking too much... Again, thanks. 3/3 FIN
@mutteripannu Kuka on ”EU”? Kuka on viime kädessä vastuussa paitsi näiden kahden päätöksen äänestämisestä myös niiden täytäntöönpanosta? #WTFIsTheCouncil classic.
@genziana @humanhorseshoes @Antonio1959 You vote for governments that control those institutions. So if you want that to change, send governments to the EUCO and the #WTFisTheCouncil that would change that statu quo not just rhetorically but also in (financial) practice.
@Schouten_B @EUCommission The neighbouring countires whose lands he keeps putting on his troll map and with whom he regularly does performative irredentist bullshit also have significant urban populations who hate him and parties like PS in Slovakia should have taken advantage a bit more.
It's not hard by accident, it's "hard" by design. Almost nobody voting for these goverments knows THEY are in charge in the EU, hence @m1rk0 asking vdL about it instead of Merz. #WTFIsTheCouncil is convenient.

Not linking to #PoliticoIsTrash, but this from the leaked letter in which the EU member statelets (your government and mine) threaten to sue the Commission for signing an agreement to let the European Parliament breathe near EU trade legislation is peak #WTFistheCouncil

#EUpol #EU #UE #europol #euromeme #EuropeanParliament #politics

@dawid Meanwhile, the Parliament leaks this to Mathias Döpfner's #PoliticoIsTrash because nobody in the bubble seems to care they're trading access for coverage in EuroBILD. Anyway, for those who don't want to give it clicks:

Yes, member states governments are The Worst, no surprise. IMO, on this one though, they're The Worst for not allowing transnational lists and real European elections. This is why they don't want most EUropeans to know #WTFistheCouncil

@Schouten_B @EUCommission It's not the Commission that refuses to do all that is legally possible, look at who does the performative screaming about Orban in the media. It's his enablers from the member states governments.

That's where @m1rk0 is wrong, "the EU" doesn't exist as an external entity independent of his own government. Radek Sikorski knows too well that even calling the #WTFistheCouncil first QMV vote would send shockwaves through Hungarian elections, so he performs kabuki outrage.

@Schouten_B @m1rk0 @EUCommission There are 2 votes needed for the Art. 7 procedure, one in each Council. Only the final, veto-freezing vote in the Executive (EUCO) requires unanimity. The vote to unblock the procedure which the EC opened in 2018 is QMV in the Legislative Council where EU member states (NOT vdL, not the Commission, but YOUR own national government) refuse to move against Orban's veto to protect their own. All under the cloak of ignorance of most EUropeans about #WTFistheCouncil
@fenixmaster @fantafanta I love how in the mind of so many EUropeans essentially breaking diplomatic relations with your military hegemon upon which you* are dependant on for everything from satellite intel (*not France) and protection from incoming nuclear missiles (*not France) to fossil fuels (could also be not France, but that's not how the Single Market works) and basic IT infrastructure is something the European *Commission* can just DO. Because #WTFistheCouncil
@EugeneMcParland Such a pity that smol bean EU member states governments can do no more than make GRRR noises. 🥺If only they had some sort of power in EU institutions and could get together and vote on a veto freezing procedure they've been blocking since 2018. They could call it... The Council of the EU or something equally fake and deliberately misleading. Imagine if they opened the 🇪🇺 Treaties at Art.7 and discovered this #WTFistheCouncil doesn't even need unanimity to unblock the Art. 7 vote.
