Attached to a 2000g weather balloon will be suspended three payloads:
- A cross-band FM repeated that hams in the area can use to make contacts
- A repurposed #RS41 #radiosonde for tracking on amateur.sondehub.org
- A live video feed
Iβll be listening with the #W3YP station but it is probably too far away from Philadelphia!

The students of the Villanova University Amateur Radio Club are operating W3YP remotely over the internet.
So far, we have made some local 2m FM contacts and some satellite contacts π°οΈ(FO-29). The upcoming RS-44 pass should be promising.
Overnight we may do some digital FT8 contacts on 20m band.

That was an amazing high altitude weather balloon flights yesterday by the #Villanova University #CubeSat Club!

This is one of the GPS trackers on the balloon. πIt transmits on the standard #APRS frequency of 144.39 MHz into a twin lead J-pole antenna. The Raspberry Pi Pico reads the BME280 (temperature, pressure, humidity, altitude) and MPU6050 (gyro and accelerometer) sensors. The transmitter is an SR_FRS_0V5 FM module that transmits 500 mW. The PCB is a #CubeSatSim Beta V2 board. The GPS is a LC76G with a dipole antenna.
