I think it perfectly highlights—no matter what your belief system is—how important female reproductive rights are. This interview originally aired in 1989. Debbie was on the show to promote her book Debbie: My Life. She had wanted to have four children. She became pregnant with her third but the baby died. However because of the laws at the time she wasn’t able to get a medically necessary surgery to remove it from her body. She had to carry it to term. This created lasting health problems for her and she almost died. Then she became pregnant again and the same thing happened as before. This time however she demanded that the surgery be done and because she almost died the first time they complied. I know it’s not a topic most people want to think about but this is an example of why it is healthcare. Back to funny stuff tomorrow. #femalereproductivehealth #healthcare #womenshealth #womensrights #joanrivers #talkshow #interviews #debbiereynolds #actress #singingintherain #willandgrace #celebritymemoir #carriefisher".
Josseli Barnica is one of at least two pregnant Texas women who died after doctors delayed emergency care. She’d told her husband that the medical team said it couldn’t act until the fetal heartbeat stopped.
