#Poland secretary of state Marcin Przydacz today:
As a result of talks between the President of Poland Karol Nawrocki and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on 19 December 2025, the Ukrainian side decided to grant permission to continue work in Puźniki near Tarnopol and to begin searches in Ostrówki and Wola Ostrowiecka in Volhynia.
These decisions should be seen as a sign of respect for the victims and their families, but also as a positive step towards improving neighbourly relations between Ukraine and Poland.
This would not have been possible without the constructive talks between the Presidents of Poland and Ukraine in Warsaw, but also without the work and efforts of many people on both the Polish and Ukrainian sides.
Effectiveness and mutual respect. 🇵🇱 🇺🇦
In Poland the topic of #Volhynia is very sensitive, primarily for a rather small community of “Volhynia families” whose ancestors were exiled or murdered in 1943. But it has been also escalated beyond any reason by pro-Russian circles who seem to be at the same time very forgetful about 10x Poles killed by Red Army and NKVD. Regardless of the fact, right-wing parties in Poland (not all, to be fair) traditionally pivoted on this topic thus kind of leaning towards pro-Russian narrative, whether they wanted or not.
As I wrote on 19 December after Nawrocki’s speech with Zelensky in Warsaw that was a breakthrough - Polish mainstream right made a decision to stop being petty about Ukraine and decided to talk business. We see the results above, and I guarantee the Polish section of FSB today has a very bad day.
