Raven OakIt's a bit early but a few reviews have started to come in on Voices Carry. This one in particular made me cry because the reader/reviewer got everything out of it that I'd hoped for. They identified with the struggles, found it healing, and through it, found their voice. Representation matters so much folks.

My grandmother grew up in a time when she wasn't allowed to have her own voice. How could she see the importance of her voice when she was allowed so little? But at some point, the cycle of silencing women has to stop.
I am choosing NOT to inherit my family's trauma.
I ended up writing a lot about this in Voices Carry (my upcoming memoir) because it took me a while to not only find *my* voice but to feel confident enough to listen to it and use it.
